aaarrrrggggghhhhh….!!

Dazed and confused

Hey, this is me, trying to keep my promise to you:  This one.

Well, I didn’t want you to find it out this way, but it seems that I’m not so smart!

I start each day telling my husband that by this evening, the new site is up and running. (I  like making him happy).

This is how it sounds at the end of the day:

“Dear, after many hours I finally succeeded in moving the “x” aside, 2 cm”.

(Well some days I don’t even succeed in moving an “x” aside. Maybe it doesn’t need to be moved? I’m probably moving many x’s that don’t need to be moved. Especially not when the server is falling 10 times an hour. Why is it falling all the time? Can’t figure that out! )

So, for those of you wondering if the day will come, this post is a short update, just to let you know that I didn’t disappear, and that I truly hope that the site will be ready next week. (See, there I go again!!! Never learning from experience!)

frustration2

Next week or next year,  whatever, it will be up and include the following categories (for a start):

Mental health (including various sub categories), Diverse families (gay parenting etc), Bullying, Raising teens, Sibling Rivalry, Internet safety, Family / work balance, Mindful parenting.

I am already working with some contributing authors, which are parents,  therapists,  counselors, teachers etc., all participating in this site in purpose of helping others, by sharing their experience and knowledge.

In case you mailed me / commented / offered to write and I didn’t reply, please mail me again at builtny@netvision.net.il  . I apologize in advance for not getting back to all mails.

Please continue to write and comment, it’s very helpful!

Back to aaaarrrrggggghhhhh, talk to you later.

  2. I think we should form an Arrrrggghhhh club!

  3. Can’t wait to read the “Raising Teens” column. Don’t pressure yourself too much. We readers are a patient lot.

  4. parentsfriend

I fight the Arrrrggghhhs by remembering what is was like when I went to school and they had ditto machines that didn’t ditto very well. And as I have dysgraphia no way I’d have written a book or blog without spell correct. Would love to contribute. Stay strong you will get there.

  5. Hug!

Nothing gets you crazy like technology. Except maybe two-year-olds. Hmmm, now I can’t decide which gets me more crazy. No, wait, it’s definitely technology! You can almost reason with a two-year-old…

  6. If you ever need a guest post I have a unique parenting life: Step mom to 2 older teens, 2 in their twenties, have my own kid from another relationship, was a teen mom, AND just had 2 more tiny tots. Crazypants interesting and strange perspectives.

    Just Sayin’! LOL

  7. oh my!! you are having a time of it!!! eat some ice scream!! it’ll help. 🙂

  8. If you need a view from someone who’s been survived a teen pregnancy; surrendering a child for adoption; raising 3 kids without a hubby; or dealing with 4 stepkids…count me in! Can guest comment when you need it!

Oh boy! I don’t do anything related to the intricacies of programming. I know how to turn my computer on and a little more but not much. Good luck to you!

  10. LOL! Don’t worry…I hear we humans are happiest when we are solving problems / puzzles. At least they make great stories. The vodka was particularly authentic.

  11. I can tell how stressful it is but you know, when you really want to make something perfect, it takes a lot of time and being revised many times too. I wish you all the best and I can’t wait to read more from you! 🙂

  12. OH here is a topic I am going through:
TEEN DATING. My son just started thinking with his……uh… well you know.

As someone who is not the most tech-savvy person, I know what you mean about spending a bunch of time on just “moving x.”
This sounds like it requires a lot of effort, but you’ll get there! It’s great to see that you’re starting your own site 🙂
I am not a parent, so I’m not sure if I can contribute to it, but I wish you the best of luck!

  14. I admire your perseverance and look forward to the new site….my son has conquered severe OCD and I’d be happy to contribute to your blog.

  15. Remember, when you first go out to do something good there will be lots of opposition…sometimes in the form of computer issues…I assure you this is a good work and as you pursue it, without being to hard on yourself or those who should matter the most you will do lots of great stuff!!! Hang in there and we are very excited to see the contributions you and your contributors have to share.

This is hilarious….Thank you Parenting And Stuff.

  17. I may not be a parent until September but I’d love to contribute. I’ve got some stories and can talk on a variety of topics. I havr 3 wonderful nephews all under 4 and the 4 yr old thinks I’m ridiculous. Yes he knows what that means. I’m a different kinda parent.

  18. Love the idea. Sorry to hear that you are so frustrated. If you need someone who is in recovery, I would love to be a part of your new adventure! Anything to help others!!

  19. It may be on no assistance whatsoever, but just know that you are not alone. How all the media in the world are not drowned out by the cries of anguish we bloggers and web would-be’s utter constantly is one of life’s great mysteries.

  20. Lynette

As a mom who works outside the home, husband who always travels and it is tax season… I feel the aaarrrggghhh! Ill send an email in case you would like another contributor. 🙂

This is one of the best updates that I have ever seen. Great graphics! Who is the artist? Will they be contributing to the new blog?

  22. It’s Al, still available to help. Keep up the great work!

  23. Today my post is in part inspired by your project-in-progress. Intended for the future Mental Health tab, should you like to include it, or link to it, or have me guest post the content there when the new site goes live. In the meantime, thank you for ambitiously getting your vision off the ground. http://stumpsandbeans.com/2013/02/28/breaking-the-silence/

  24. Thanks for the laugh! I am often challenged with technology too, I can fully relate! Love the graphics, and good luck with your next moves of x…

  25. Look at it this way, by the time the site is up you will have a huge arsenal of content so maintaining it will be smooth sailing….as I tell my daughter.,,..(who likes to stomp around when things don’t go right after her first pass at them)….life doesn’t come easy, you sometimes have to work really hard for what you want, the good news is, the harder you work the more rewarding the outcome!!

  26. Keep breathing. 🙂

  27. Jennifer Gutzmer, MA, LMHCA

Very exciting, hard work! Let me know if I can be supportive in any way!

  28. What an awesome project! Very brave of you to get it started all by yourself. Im excited to see it bloom!

  29. Thanks for taking a break and stopping by “Honey.” Sometimes you just want to chuck the computer out the window, eh?

  30. I think this blog is wonderful! Would love to contribute if you ever touch on topics involving parents of kids on the autism spectrum — would love to give my two cents about the role of music in the lives of kids with autism (and kids in general)!!

  31. Dear Parenting and Stuff,
TY for “liking” some of my information age and internet safety images I’ve published in cyberspace at Facebook. Everything posted is public domain and use to best fit your themes you are writing about. If I may ever be of help, always feel free to contact me as I have compiled and created an enormous amount of information on cyberbullying, cyerstalking, cybercrime, online predation, cyber harrassment & various other topics highly relevant to the Information Age parent. BTW, I almost fell off my chair laughing at your recent post aaarrrrggggghhhhh….!! My personal email is drnucc@hotmail.com and I can be reached anytime. TY, Doc Nuccitelli

I know. You’ve received one of these before. Just think of this as a fresh coat of paint! http://joeltipple.wordpress.com/2013/03/02/versatile-blogger-award/

  33. I linked your blog in my latest post and nominated you for a “Sunshine Award.” Really enjoying your page. Thanks!

  34. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m loving checking yours out! Humor has definitely gotten me through some tough times, and I appreciate yours, as well as your candor!

  35. I would be happy to be a part of your new venture. You have been to my blog. I am a mother, educator of all ages. I am forever confounded by the decisions that are made for our children in terms of public education.
Let me know if you are interested in this point of view!
Love the down to earth voice in your writing.

  36. I feel your pain. When my friend Kate got sick last January, and my site got hacked RIGHT before I had to speak at last years ACO conference in March, I simply had to throw in the towel on ADDCoach.com and make friends with slogging along on my kludgy WordPress.com blog “until things settled down” and I could begin again (nothing left but “hello world” and a picture of a trolley — not even my Thesis theme remained).

My colleague & I were in charge of Kate’s memorial in October. Then my Dad died. Then another friend. THEN . . . (you get the idea without the gory details, right?)

FORTUNATELY, my readership doesn’t seem to track time, so as long as it’s still “coming soon” everybody’s cool with playing fast and loose with that “soon” word but me!

EVEN though your readership probably DOES track time, I’ll bet they’re cool with it too. You’re worth waiting for – I’ll bet even your husband thinks so. Don’t tear your hair out (or you’ll just have to stop to go get a wig!)

    • Well it wasn’t the easiest year for you was it?? I’m my worst judge, and in any case I did think that it will be easier and faster, on the other hand I’m enjoying it a lot, a real challenge. Thanks for sharing and encouraging!

Oh I can so relate. I’m building my new website “Treasure Chest of Memories”. It can be so terribly frustrated. Ten days into it, I still have things not working right!

Up to now I’ve blogged about my own memories (at memoriesinthewind.wordpress.org). I would love for us to exchange guest blogs. I would be interested in writing about humorous parenting stories (like “Conversation in the Car” at http://memoriesinthewind.wordpress.com/2009/04/29/converstation-in-the-car/ or about writing about kids, which is a topic I cover in my book (called Treasure Chest Of Memories). I would also invite you to guest blog (or repost) at my site on any topic related to preserving memories.

Let me know what you think!

    • What can I say, thinking that unlike me you are already familiar with this frustration called wordpress.org, and still it takes you time to work on the site, that’s not encouraging at all! 😉
I love the idea, will contact you once I cross this and have the site working. Thanks!

As one of my favourite bloggers, I have nominated you for the Very Inspirational Blogger Award. To see how this works, please see my post http://betweenloveandchaos.wordpress.com/2013/03/06/very-inspiring-blogger-award-post-that-i-eventually-got-around-to-writing/ Keep up the wonderful posting, you are truly an inspiration.

  39. I just set up my wordpress site, too and there’s still things I haven’t figured out. Sigh.

I hope you got it all worked out. If not, BREATHE! If your pictures are any indication, you need to walk away from the computer when you’re feeling that stressed.

Have you heard of bogosity? Here’s a link that defines quantum bogodynamics: http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/Q/quantum-bogodynamics.html Having worked around computers and large electronics, I have witnessed that they respond as if they were bogon sinks…and they break down when subjected to excessive bogosity.

In English that means, when you’re upset and stressed and expecting the machines to break….they do! The more you expect it to go wrong, it does.

I look forward to exploring your blog. 😀 Cheers!

In terms of sibling rivalry I am interested in your thoughts about birth placement (eg. first born, second born, youngest, ect). I wrote a research paper and presented on this topic a few years ago and I found it very interesting in the way siblings relate to one another…and to the parents and their significant others and friends in their lives (as they grow older). I have never had siblings so I found all of this very interesting in terms of understanding my boyfriend (at the time) and my family and friends..any thoughts?

  41. Hugs and all!
Your style of writing is both amusing and hilarious, with a bit of urmpf for good measure ha ha, keep it up. Scrolling down 🙂

  42. Good luck getting the site started. I recently moved my blog on to a new website and ran into many challenges (this blog post focuses on the issues that arose: http://larrydbernstein.com/growing-past-the-plagues..
There is much work to do and it can be daunting. That being said, I understand where you are coming from.

  43. Have you had anyone express interest in a category for parenting kids with special needs and/or health conditions? There are a lot of us out there too, and it’s easier to find support when your special needs kid is a baby/young child vs when they are a little older.

    • There’s a “family health ” and a “mental health” category, there is no limit to ages. Please browse http://www.parents-space.con, content will be uploaded every day.
You are also more than welcome to write!

      • Thank you so much for replying! I found this site first on someone else’s blog roll, and after some jumping around landed on the new site. It looks really good. My kids are now just about 12, 14 and almost 16 and there’s no end to the everyday parenting stuff here as well as the more specialized stuff. I’d like to consider contributing… I’ll have to think it through, whether twice a week is something doable for me. If you are interested, check out my blog’s “about” page to get a bit of our story, and/or a few of my medical needs tagged posts.
