The moment you’ve been waiting for! Woo Hoo…

logo

OK, I know, not all of you waited for this moment exactly, but I worked so hard on it, I needed to get your attention, didn’t I? 😉

For those of you who followed my journey, and for those who have no idea what I’m talking about:

I promised (here)

I complained (a lot, here )

And finally I made it!  Here:

 www.parents-space.com

Parents – Space is the meeting place for writers, parents and professionals, discussing parenting challenges ; mission is to become a source of support for other parents, wherever they may be in their journey of parenthood.

The writers in this site are an awesome community of people who have gathered together to help others, by sharing informative experience and professional  content,  and by spreading awareness to parenting challenges.

Now that most of my preliminary tech issues are over, (how Go-Daddy took 3 weeks of my life is for another post), I am more available to work on the content.

If you like the idea behind this project, there are several ways you can help us help others:

1. You can become a contributing author:

If interested, please mail me at builtny@netvision.net.il with links to your blog, and let me know what you wish to write about.

A lot of categories are waiting for you! Mental health issues, Family health, Sibling rivalry, Work / Family balance etc. Peer  pressure? I’m really waiting for writers that can help with that! Disorders, Internet safety, hey, I can go on forever!

(You may have written to me already, if I didn’t reply please write again)

2.  Don’t have time to post on a regular basis? Totally understandable!

You can still help by letting others know about this site; they may want to write there and help others by sharing, or may find support in following the site, and feeling that they’re not alone in their daily challenges.

You can re-blog this post (that’s the only post I will ever ask you to re-blog, promise!).

You can place the site’s logo (above) in your blog, with a link to the site (use the image widget in your dashboard) .

Please follow us on Facebook , Twitter , subscribe to our weekly newsletter.

Share, Share, Share!

By sharing, you are helping us reach many people who might find support in the site.

Thank you!

Now what?

– I will generate a lot of traffic to the site.

– I am working on improving the site, new features will be added soon.

– New content and new categories will be uploaded daily.

Let me know what you think so far: Do you like it? Any ideas, things I didn’t think about?

My first site, I’m not techie at all, and very happy to learn new things!

Love you all, see you in www.parents-space.com

Hey … don’t know if this is the best way to contact you … but yea – I’d write for your site … stop by today and see what I wrote about – I would be especially interested in putting bits out there on eating disorders and competition – athletic competition that is. Wanted to share this Blog with you guys – I just found it and it sounds very interesting. I am not quite a parent yet, but I am always looking for new resources to add to my daily reading.

  12. Congratulations – building a community site is a wonderful idea! While I can’t post two times a week, consider me available to write about the importance of arts in our kids education, and how we can fill the glaring gaps as best we can! Good luck with it all!

    • Thank you! I can’t go activating new users every day, and can only work with a limited no. of writers, which is the main reason for asking for 2 posts. On the other hand I can perfectly understand that it’s not possible for many to commit to twice weekly. I will need to find a solution for that, and in the meantime the importance of art is a great subject, so contact me please (builtny@netvision.net.il) for posting, per your scedule. Looking forward.

  13. If you would like a food blogger I would be more than happy to join! I’m not a registered dietitian, but have 13+ years of experience feeding opinionated eaters, and would be happy to address topics like food sensitivities, texture issues, the importance of family meals, getting kids interested in healthy food, mini foodies, making the most of your time and money, as well as offering recipes.

    Amazing new Parenting site!

  15. Would you consider doing some kind of link-up on the page, particularly for those of us who would like to write for the page but cannot commit to two pieces a week? My thought is that when I post something on my blog that might be of interest to your readers, there would be a page on the site where I could go to post a link to that particular post. Just a thought, because I think there are a lot of things that I write that would be of interest to certain readers. I would certainly not want to link everything I write on my blog, because not everything would be pertinent. I do this with a few different blogs I particularly like, and I think it is a great way to share information without having to make a commitment (and if I COULD make a commitment to this site, I definitely would, I already really like it). I’d love to hear what you think or if you have another idea to make something like this work. Thanks! Maggie

    • Hi Maggie, Technically I’m not sure how to do that, because in order for you to access the site and link I will need to activate you as a user, which is the primary reason for me requesting 2 posts (can’t go on activating users all day long, I don’t have any help with the site and doing it alone).

However if there’s a specific topic you want to write about that can be helpful to many others, I will not prevent it from readers, so twice weekly would not be a must.

      • How about if I come across an article on the site that I can provide some additional insight to, I’ll put a link to my post in the comments. Would you object to that? I know some pages won’t approve links in comments, even when they are relevant, so I don’t want to go against your policies.
        Thanks!
        Maggie

Great space! Can’t wait to read and share experiences that sometimes leave me boggled! Kids? Who knew it was such a challenge, you’d think raising them after being one would make it breezy … ha! Btw, thank you for checking out my blog, and I’m happy you did. Can’t wait to explore!

  21. Bravo! What a great idea! I am so happy to hear you are doing this … and if you want some additional fodder, check out my book; The Agony & The Agony: How to raise a teenager without losing your mind…. think you’ll like it!!

The Agony and the Agony is the best description I have ever heard about raising a teenager, I’m going to have to check it out too!

  22. I love this idea. Good luck! I have two kids 16 (girl) and 19 (boy) who still lives at home. They are good kids luckily, but still I worry.

  28. I enjoyed your blogs and one I can I will share for you. Your suggestions for topics to hear about such as emotional problems, mental illness, peer pressure, etc. Is where I have started my focus. Unplanned but I felt better after saying my bit ..when I’m not having writers block I love writing about this stuff. I’ve experienced a little of a lot of it. Hope you don’t mind if I use your topics as “inspiration” ?

  29. Great thing !
Would you write about AuPairs looking for host families, too?

  30. What a great idea! I can’t wait to see what comes out of this project! Following now.
